Palava Hills Protected Landscape Area
Palava Hills are the most significant landmark of South Moravia. Arrising from almost flat countryside, the hills are visible from a great distance, and they impress anybody approaching Mikulov from any direction. There are castle ruins perched atop either of the two limestone ranges as well as Table Hill plateau, all of them offer far views rewarding you for climbing up there. The protected landscape area is a living example of traditional balanced coexistence of people nad nature in very cosy environment.
There are many paved backroads up the hills with quite short climbs through vineyards, other unpaved trails lead further up with the peak sections for hikers only. Palava Hills lie at a stone's throw from Mikulov and nearby Nove Mlyny water reservoirs or Lednice-Valtice Area parks offer great chill out after the climb.
