UNESCO Site Lednice-Valtice Area
Lednice-Valtice area called "Garden of Europe" is a cultural landscape with two magnificient chateux built originally as the seat of Liechtenstein noble family. The whole area was shaped according to romantic principles of early 19th century architecture. As the largest of its kind in Europe, Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape is enlisted on UNESCO World Heritage List. There are countless forest trails along which you can see numerous "follies" - Romantic structures set in harmoniuos way to the countryside. Thus you can encounter a minaret, an aquaduct, a triumphal arch or a Classical colonnade concentrated at the location where they would never be expected. Let yourself be surprised by their magic.
There are flat unpaved cycling trails throughout the whole area calling for a relaxed romantic ride. To explore this fascinating region a bit more, you can take paved bike paths or backroads either to the town of Mikulov, which is some 20 km to the west, or towards Nove Mlyny water reservoirs and Palava Hills. Lednice-Valtice area can be seen within one day, however it is great for a longer stay with loop trips in the surroundings.
