Danube River Trail
The Danube River Trail, a part of EuroVelo 6 (Atlantic to Black Sea), is the most favorite bike route in Central Europe. It stretches along the Danube River from Germany to Hungary and for most of the time you can choose which side of river to follow. The riverside scenery varies from steep rocks with castle ruins atop and terraced vineyards to flat forested areas or plains. There is well-developed cycling infrastructure of dedicated bike paths, refreshments and rest stops.
As the route is almost flat in contrast to the surrounding, often dramatic landscape, it is great for family rides or relaxed cycling in general. Those seeking more challenge can take countless side trips up from the river valley. You will appreciate perfect asphalt surface particularly in Austria. Your Danube tour can start or end in Vienna, or in one of numerous charming cities such as Passau, Linz, Melk, Krems, Bratislava or Budapest.
You can drop-off the rented bikes with 50% off the return fee in Vienna or Bratislava.
